Flying the kite for respiratory care in the East Midlands

Supported by the East Midlands Clinical Networks (EMCN), the East Midlands Respiratory Programme’s objective is to “improve the outcomes & quality of life for patients with respiratory disease, publicising & reducing unwarranted variation, and up-skilling clinical teams”.

In addition, we aim to:
  • Improve early and accurate diagnosis for patients with COPD and asthma
  • Increase awareness of own and local performance compared to peers
  • Promote lessons learnt from the National Review of Asthma Deaths (NRAD) report
  • Actively participate in joint working with CCGs, Public Health and Industry
  • Share & promote areas of respiratory innovation and best practice
Our site provides commissioners & clinical teams with the relevant information required to deliver on the above aims.
There are various sources of data available to highlight current performance, and variation against others. This is at Practice, Regional and National Level. For further information, please visit our ‘Data & Variation’ page.
Treatments can be placed into two main categories: 1. Pharmacological interventions 2. Non-Pharmacological interventions Further information can be found in our ‘Respiratory Treatment‘ section.
The East Midlands Respiratory Programme are collating local knowledge, innovation and evidence relating to different part of the respiratory pathway. This can be found in our ‘Knowledge Sharing‘ section. For a wider ‘National’ knowledge sharing, we’ll link to the National ‘Respiratory Futures‘ site
